The energy companies' possible leases will bring welcome financial relief to some property owners. But the gas drilling developments will impact all who live in Tioga County because the quality of water and air is so vital to every individual.

 We must have objective leadership on this issue from all our elected officials, who represent the interests of us all.

 Absolute guarantees of protection from pollution of the water and air for now and any future developments should be obtained. Unintended and future consequences must be provided for, including possible future ground
radiation. The corporations who are allowed to access any natural resources must be liable in perpetuity.

 Please let your elected officials know that our water rights are non-negotiable, not for sale. If gas drilling is such a profitable endeavor, take shares for tax breaks! It is a "seller's market."

 Ask for leadership on this important matter.  Ask all the county and local candidates to be informed on the drilling techniques, pollution hazards, and the ramifications to county and local finances (pollution cleanup, restoration, road repairs...).  

 Invite our officials to local meetings to learn how seriously this issue is being considered. It is Our Responsibility to engage those with jurisdiction to act responsibly in our behalf.
