Scott A. Smith

 Owego businessman Scott A. Smith, 82, died August 27, 2008. 
 He was the second generation of Scott Smith & Son, a fuel oil business founded in 1923 by his father, R. Scott Smith. After serving in World War II, Smith joined his father in the business. He retired in the 1980s.  

 Smith was predeceased by his parents, R. Scott and Verna Snedaker Smith; stepmother, Bert Smith; wife, Betty J. (Woodburn) Smith; loving partner, Jane Graham. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Scott S. Smith and Kelley Robinson, Dean and Nina Smith; four grandchildren, Emily (Smith) and Greg Pellicano, Patrick Smith and Nancy Jackson; Brandon Smith, Taylor Smith; daughter-in-law, Terri Smith; sister, Mary Janeth (Smith) Scanlon; niece and her husband, Judy (Scanlon) and Sigurd Winslow.

 Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at 10:00 am at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego. Interment was in the  Tioga Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Scott A. Smith's memory to the Owego Fire/Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 22, Owego, N.Y. 13827.
