Kailin Richter of Nichols recently received the Girl Scouts' highest award, the Girl Scout Gold Award.  She was one of nine honored at the Young Women of Distinction Dinner in Ithaca sponsored by the Girl Scouts - Seven Lakes Council. To earn the award, Richter completed a prescribed set of activities in leadership and career exploration, culminating with completing the Gold Award project.   Her project was mapping out the unmarked grave sites at Riverside Cemetery, putting maps on CD/DVD, preserving historical maps, and relocating the entrance sign.
 A Girl Scout for 13 years and graduate of Tioga Central High School, Richter heads to the Culinary Institute of America in the fall.
