Local
Woman Honored by Girl Scouts
Dorothy Richter, right, receives the Girl Scout
Honor Pin from Deborah Schwarting at the Girl Scouts-Seven Lakes Council
annual meeting in Geneva.
Dorothy Richter of Nichols was given the
Girl Scout Honor Pin at last night's annual meeting of the Girl Scouts-Seven
Lakes Council, Inc. The Honor Pin recognizes an adult member who
has delivered outstanding service in two or more geographic areas.
Richter is a trainer of other adult volunteers
and a member of the Girl Scout Gold Award Committee that guides girls to
earn the highest award in Girl Scouting. She has served as manager of the
local administrative unit, as registrar, program consultant and been a
leader of troops at several age levels.
"With her firm but fair style, she challenges
the girls (earning the Gold Award) to elaborate on project ideas, and keeps
the girls on their toes and the award to the highest standard," said Stephanie
Hesler, Program Manager for the council.
Membership years were also recognized with
special pins. Local adults receiving them were Roxann Waters of Owego (35
years) and Cindy Coates of Candor (30 years).
