Pancake Breakfast
Our semi-annual pancake breakfast welcomed
many members of our community as we served more than 300 people. We thank
you all for your support. Our member Carl Laposky did a great job in organizing
this event. Our volunteers were all on hand to make the day a great success.
Thank you.
Training
Campville Fire Station 1 hosted a Fire
Police course with instructor Marty Kophco. You may have seen the group
out by the bridge on Thursday evening, May 1, setting up a mock accident.
It was a great training experience for all the volunteers who attended.
Congratulations to Campville members: Kevin Clyne, Edward Kotski, Rosemary
Kotski, Carl Laposky and Larry Singleton for completing the course.
Our neighbors in Newark Valley hosted a
NYS Firefighter Survival Course at their station. Three Campville members,
Kevin Kotski, Carl Laposky and Mark Radzikowski completed the course successfully.
Firefighters Rob and Brenda Ziemba, were
sent to Dayton, Ohio, to participate in an auto extrication crash course.
Each year two of our members are selected by the chief to participate in
the course. It is an intense two days of training.
Campville tries to accommodate all its
volunteers to attend any training available. We are also grateful to the
members for their time and dedication.
In House Training
Tuesday nights you will find our station
busy with people participating in training sessions. Now that the weather
is getting nice you will probably see or "hear" our boat out on the river
with our boat crew training. Our squad meets once a month for training
and keeping updated on current protocols and requirements. The first Tuesday
in the month is our business meeting. Why not stop in and join us? There
are no minimum requirements for the job, there are no set hours and we
train you. Remember, 24/7, 365 days a year, no pay, just a helping hand
in the community.
Why not visit our neighbors, the Apalachin
Fire Department and join them during their field days this month. You will
enjoy the parade on Saturday, the fireworks on Friday evening, the rides
and the food. A fun family time.
