Open House Held at St. Pat's School

St. Patrick School in Owego held an open house on Saturday, April 5. The school, which is at 309 Front Street in Owego, offers classes for preschool through Grade 5 for Catholic and non-Catholic students.

Those who attended the open house had the opportunity to tour the class rooms, which are housed in a modern, two-story building. The library and other activity rooms (such as art and music) are in an older two-story addition and the historic Stanbrough Mansion.

The school, which was established  in 1859, faced a crisis earlier this year when it diocese and church officials said they would close the school if it did not meet enrollment quotas by mid-March. The school exceeded the quota by one student, enrolling 56 students in grades Kindergarten through 5 (with at least 10 in Kindergarten).

The school will remain open for its 150th anniversary school year of 2008-2009.

If you were not able to attend the open house, but would like a tour of the school, call the office at 687-1770.
