Barbara
J. Fink, former Mayor of the Village of Owego, passed away March 18, 2008.
Barbara was a teacher at Owego Elementary for more than 40 years, she was
extremely involved in the Village of Owego. She served as the former
Mayor and Trustee for the Village of Owego, she was instrumental in acquiring
so may grants for the village, a member of the Evergreen Cemetery Committee,
BPW, Owego Rotary Club, BPOE #1395, and so many other aspects of the village.
The village has lost a part of its heart and sole, one of the unspoken
heroes that did just to do. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and
grandmother and made time to get involved in making the Village of Owego
a wonderful place for families to call home.
So whether you called her Mrs. Fink as
so many students did or you called her Mayor Fink with a great amount
of trust and respect you addressed this dear lady.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband
of 47 years, Richard C. Fink. She is survived by her son, Richard
Todd Fink; three daughters and spouses, Jacquelyn and Andy Dimock, Kimberly
and Steven Ward, Shelly Weiland and June Holcomb; five grandchildren, Christopher,
Elizabeth and Eric Dimock, Ashley and Jessica Ward.
Funeral services were held on March 21,
2008. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Owego. Memorial contributions
may be made in Barbara Fink's memory to the Evergreen Cemetery Trust Fund
or Owego Fire Department Training Tower, 178 Main St., Owego, NY 13827.
