County government will be busy for these next few months. First, we must deal with transportation. We must be ready to advertise for bids before our current contract expires. This service seems to have been deficient almost from the start. Ridership on even the more popular routes is declining. Even the bus drivers are dissatisfied with the schedules.

 Second, the issue of voting machines has yet to be resolved. As yet the state has not said which machines are acceptable. When that happens we will be required to buy and store them.

 If this were not enough, we are now required to account for obligations incurred for future retirement benefits. This will turn our present surplus into a deficit.

 As usual, we legislators would be pleased to consider any ideas that you may have to help with these upcoming problems.
