Church Gets Defibrillator
St. Paul's Episcopal Church has installed an automated external defibrillator (AED). Seventeen members of the congregation participated in CPR and AED training and received American Heart Association certification Sunday, November 11, 2007. St. Pauls is now the second church in the Broome-Tioga area to install an AED. Megan Horton, Owego Fire Department EMT, provided the training. The acquisition of the AED was made possible by a generous, anonymous donation and coordinated by the St. Paul's Care Team Ministry. The AED is readily available for use in an emergency by lay persons. As with most churches, St. Paul's provides valuable space to other organizations for meetings and activities. The AED is simple to use and can save lives by enabling lay persons to provide emergency treatment prior to the arrival of emergency responders. If you are interested in attending AED or
CPR certification classes, or for information on the St. Paul's Care Team
Ministry, please contact Elaine Carril, RN, Coordinator, at (607) 642-3579.
