Owego Apalachin Music Department will present the musical, The Secret Garden on February 1 and  2 at 7:30 pm, and on February 3 at  2:30 pm. The musical will be performed at the OA Theater in the Owego Apalachin Middle School, 3 Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego. 

 The musical is based on the classic children's novel by the English-born American writer Frances Hodgson Burnett. This show will have special appeal to children and families.

 Set in 1906, The Secret Garden begins when newly orphaned Mary Lennox arrives at her uncle's isolated estate in England.  Mourning the death of his wife, Lily, several years before, Archibald Craven, the uncle, leads a reclusive life.  Ignored and ill-treated by Archibald's brother, Dr. Craven, Mary is encouraged by her chambermaid, Martha, to find refuge outdoors in the mansion's gardens where she meets the head gardener.  Taking his advice, Mary finds her late Aunt Lily's garden, which has remained secret and locked since her death.  Together with her new friend, Dickon, and her sickly cousin Colin, Mary restores the secret garden to its former beauty, creating a sanctuary from the otherwise bleak estate.  In the process of transforming the garden she transforms her new family and those around them.

 The musical is produced and directed by Pat Bliznik.  The musical director is Lisa Winans and the orchestra conductor is Dan Fabricius.  The choreographer is Tracy Bliznik and the costume designers are Joan Hunt and Linda Williams.  

 The set was designed by Nate Brown, Joe Skovira, and artistic director, Erica Tabbert. The sound and lights were designed by Travis Rocco.
