Berkshire Emergency Squad News

The Berkshire Emergency Squad wants to thank every one that either made a coat donation or money donation.  We got everything together that we had, which were coats of all sizes, hats, gloves, and blankets, and handed them out on Saturday December 16, 2006.  Eini was at the Newark Valley Church and handed them out to the Village and Town of Newark Valley Community that came and received their food baskets, and Cheryl went to the Berkshire Congregational Church and handed out to the Berkshire and Richford Community that received their food baskets.

They also took names and sizes that they didn't have that were needed by the communities and will be handing those out on Thursday night at the Berkshire Fire Station.  It was reported by the two members that it was a great experience to see the people happy knowing that their children and themselves were going to be warmer this winter!  It was a great success and can't wait till next year.  It will be bigger and better!

Now just because they have handed out coats doesn't mean they are completely done!  Why, you ask? Well, they still have coats left over, . all different sizes. If you know someone that is in need of a nice coat or if you are in need of one please don't hesitate to get a hold of one of them and ask if they have that size and make arrangements to pick it up.  If you need to contact them call 657-2727 and leave a message for Cheryl C or Eini and they will get back to you in a matter of a day.  Thank you again to all that donated, you have made a BIG difference in people's lives.

More news in the Berkshire: We just had our elections in December for the new officers starting in January, they are: Chief - Scott Gurney, Asst Chief - Scott Albrecht, 2nd Asst. Chief - Steve Wing, 1st Captain - Cheryl Ceurter, and 2nd Captain -  William Ellis. Lieutenants are Eini Raupers, John Sweger, Renee Keller and Brigitte Alger. Congratulations to all.

And of course we don't want to forget anyone on the ambulance because they all do a great job and provide great pt. care and all deserve a big thank you!
