Two members of the Susquehanna Toastmasters Club in Owego competed against winners from other Area clubs in the Southern Tier after winning the Area 15 Toastmasters Club's International Speech and Table Topics contests. "Table Topics" is an exercise in impromptu speaking. Kathleen Pernice, Owego, current vice president of the Owego Business and Professional Women's Club and a financial consultant, won the International Speech contest. Her speech was a motivational speech entitled "No, Is Not An Option". Thomas Cassetta of Elmira an engineer at Corning Glass was the first place winner in the Table Topics Contest. The impromptu topic, Your book has just been accepted for publication, what is your book about? The winners then competed in the Southern Division contests on March 31 at the Lecture Hall at Binghamton University. Kathleen Pernice won the Division Contest and will now compete against the winners for other Divisions in a District Contest that will be help in Syracuse on April 20 and 21. Winners of the District competition progress to a Region contest which covers five states. Toastmasters International is an international
