| "Susquehanna
Scandal" Makes English Debut
"Susquehanna Scandal" by Owego author R. W. White has been selling in the U.K. since last fall. The book's story has found an appeal among English readers based upon their interest in the historic events that accompanied the development of early America after the Revolution. "Susquehanna Scandal" is set in 1852 Owego and is based on a doomed relationship between a wealthy judge and a Native American gospel singer and story teller. Conflict erupts and before long the two become estranged from their families and communities. According to Riverow Bookstore owner, John Spencer, "The book has been a local best seller." Copies are still available in his shop on Front Street in Owego where the author will hold another book discussion and signing on Saturday, May 12, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Spencer, invites the public to drop in for chat with Bob White, and for refreshments and last-minute Mother's Day cards and gifts.
