NEW EMT
We are proud to say that Patty Hyde of
Berkshire is our newest EMT. She has recently taken her EMT class in Tioga
County and passed. She is doing a great job and is a wonderful asset to
our Ambulance service. Congratulations, Patty.
We now have four members that are in EMT class
and they are doing great as well.
THANKS TO FIRE DEPARTMENTS
Things are going well with the Berkshire
EMS. We have had over 100 calls already just this year and have answered
98% of them. The Berkshire, Newark Valley and Richford Fire Departments
have been a wonderful help with the ambulance. We have had to call them
for lifting assistance - every department comes with a full crew to help
us out. It is just a wonderful thing to have the support and help from
our local fire departments. And recently the Berkshire Fire Department
started up a ‘first responder's unit' which responds to all the calls in
the Town of Berkshire territory and so far that has worked out great for
us. So a big thanks too all of our fire departments. That would include
the Weltonville FRU and fire department as well.
PULL OVER FOR RED, GREEN, AND BLUE LIGHTS
Just a little reminder for
all: Red, blue and green lights.
Red light and sirens you have to pull
over for, that is a state rule.
Blue light and green lights you don't actually
have to pull over for, but I want you to stop and think about the next
time you are driving and you see someone with a green light on and
you decide that you do not feel like pulling over, well just think they
could be going to an accident scene that has severe injuries and later
you find out that the guy died because the crew couldn't get there fast
enough and it was actually one of your family members.
Or think they are going to a baby that isn't
breathing and the mother is frantic because the ambulance or first responder
with the green light behind you can't get there quick enough.
So please, what we are asking is, think
if it was you. Wouldn't you want someone to get there as quick as possible?
So pull over for anyone with a light behind
you. Red, Green or blue, it shouldn't matter. We are all responding
to the same emergency!
Thank you.
