Arcuri (D-Utica) and Maurice Hinchey (D-Hurley) congratulated Lockheed Martin Owego on the Air Force's announcement today that Lockheed Martin's A-10 Prime Team - led by its Owego facility -- has received a $40.4 million contract modification to complete the A-10C Precision Engagement program's engineering and manufacturing development phase. "Lockheed Martin Owego is a valuable part of the Southern Tier economy. Their hard work and commitment provides the Air Force with the critical equipment it needs to keep our country safe," Arcuri said "This contract ensures that Lockheed Martin will continue to provide good-paying jobs and economic growth in our region. I am pleased that the Air Force continues to recognize and reward the talent and expertise of the people at Lockheed Martin- Owego" "Lockheed Martin Owego continues to demonstrate that it is worthy of its status as a premier designer of military aircraft," Hinchey said. "The company continues to play a vital role in the Southern Tier economy and securing contacts such as this one only serve to further enhance that role." The Precision Engagement program will enable the A-10C aircraft to use new precision-guided weapons such as the Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) and Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser (WCMD). The upgrades also provide the attack jet with improved situational awareness, enhanced target identification and designation, improved Stores Management, adds two new Multifunction Color Displays (MFCDs), and fully integrates a targeting pod.
