Campville Fire Wire

Campville Fire Department has many talented members. This month we want to take the opportunity to thank a few of them.

First, we want to thank FF Brenda Ziemba for applying her writing skills to a grant that awarded Campville Fire Department funding that will put all our firefighters in new turnout gear and our squad members in protective gear.

Also, Brenda and her husband Rob have been working diligently for almost a year now on a Web site for Campville Fire Department.

Next, we want to thank Shirley Sullivan for all of the computer reports she keeps updated for the Chief and the department. One can always depend on Shirley to have the reports accurate and on time, keeping all the member's personal files updated and accessible, and for her services as an EMT and ambulance driver.  A special thank you to Shirley, a member of our department for 25-plus years.

Applying for membership in a fire department does not mean you have to be only a "firefighter". As you can see from these members, your talent can be utilized in different ways. Please keep that in mind and stop by and join us.

Training
Training is ongoing in any fire department to keep members skills updated and to be prepared for any emergency. The cold weather is no determent to member participation. This month members spent extra time getting equipment ready for any emergency in the cold snowy weather. If the ice stays thick enough you will see our boat/water rescue crew practicing on Ford pond.

Old Photos
Campville is dedicating a wall in the station to old photographs, newspaper articles, etc. from years gone by. Anyone who would like to donate any items, please contact John Hickey at 748-3446.

Ground Zero
New York Committee for Occupational Safety & Health reminds any volunteers who performed any rescue, recovery or cleanup work in the vicinity of the World Trade Center, that they have until August 14, 2007, to register with the state Workers' Compensation Board. Those who do not register will not be eligible to file claims even if they develop 9/11 mental or physical problems. Call 866-982-2556 to register.

We were all happy to see our member Kevin Kotski who was home for a short leave from his tour in Iraq.  Our prayers go with you on your return.

Thank You
A special thank you to, Al Wilcox of Trackside Products in Endicott, for your donation of two race car window nets to keep our long cribbing in tack on our heavy rescue.
