to Honor Student Volunteers
Nomination Forms are Available

The Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation will honor student volunteers with the 2007 President's Volunteer Service Award.

Tioga County schools, families, churches, and other community organizations
are invited to recognize middle and high school students for their outstanding volunteer community service during the past 12 months.

Nomination forms for the award are available from the foundation at 34 1/2 Lake Street in Owego for classes, clubs, honor societies, student government, teams, and other groups of student volunteers.

All students are eligible if they have met the minimum number of volunteer hours: 50 hours for middle school students and 100 hours for high school students since May 1, 2006.

The President's Volunteer Service Award, created by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, is a way to thank volunteers for their commitment to volunteerism and community service.  If you have questions about the award, email the foundation at chbyouthfoundation@verizon.net.

Tioga County students will be given the awards in a public recognition ceremony on Saturday, May 19, in Owego.
