Historical Society to Honor Towns

The Tioga County Historical Society is launching a new program this year to honor the towns of Tioga County. Each month, a different town will present an exhibit in the lower east gallery.

The first display opens in March and will honor the Town of Richford which was founded in 1832 and was the home of John D. Rockefeller. Town of Richford historian Bill Sherwood will display artifacts and old photographs which have been restored by Ray Hunt of Berkshire. The restoration project was made possible with a grant from the New York Council on the Arts Decentralization Program administered by the Arts of the Southern Finger Lakes.

Dates for other town displays will be announced.

The Tioga County Historical Museum is at 110 Front Street in Owego. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
