On December 1, 1996, Lew Sauerbrey started his first day as the Executive Director of the Tioga County Boys & Girls Club.  On December 31, 2006, he ended his professional career and retired.  

 I have enjoyed the many challenges and opportunities working with the Board of Directors, Club Staff, our membership, parents and supporters as we strive to fulfill our mission of providing hope and opportunity for the youth of our community. Much has been accomplished and I am proud to have been a part of it.  Of all the things I have done in my life aside from being a husband and father, my time here at "the Club" has been the most rewarding. Being part of an organization that has a goal of providing hope and opportunity for young people has been special and something I will hold close to my heart forever. 

 Growing up as a youngster here in Owego and coming to the club back in the 50s and 60s, working at Camp Truman, serving on the Board of Directors, and being the Executive Director, the club has been a special part of my life.

 During my time at the club we have made some significant changes and improvements to the building and to our program structure; in each case for the good of our kids. Having the opportunity to watch the kids grow and develop has been rewarding.

 To the kids; you have kept me young, to the parent's thank you for all your support, to the club staff keep up the good work.  To our Board of Directors and everyone associated with the club; the donors, local businesses, and volunteers; thank you for supporting me and most of all for your dedication to youth.

 The commercial talks about retirement; to withdraw, yes I will withdraw and move aside, to go away, yes I will go away giving way to new ideas and energy, to disappear, maybe move to the background but I don't think I will disappear.

 The Tioga County Boys & Girls Club is and always will be "the Positive Place for Kids."  Thank you for letting me serve you.
