Photo Contest Winners 

The Tioga County Tourism Office has announced the winners of the "It's A Snap" 2006 Photo Contest.  The contest was held May through September in an effort to capture the best photos of things to see and do in our county and was open to anyone, but limited to photos taken within the borders of Tioga County.  The winning photos will be included in the new guide, expected to be released in early February 2007.

 A variety of 58 photos were submitted. These included events, attractions, activities, outdoors, nature, farms, etc. All photos had to be original photographs taken by the entrant. Five judges reviewed the images based on activity, color,  clarity; tourism relevance/ composition. Each picture was graded on the four criteria, and a numeric value was generated for each photo by each judge.  The judges' scores were then averaged to compile a total score and the top three were selected. The winners of the 2006 Tioga County "It's A Snap" Photo Contest are:

 1st Place,  John Mullen, Endicott, "A Concert in the Park"

 2nd Place, Lois Barden, Candor, "Look What I Caught!"

 3rd Place, Bob Zelle, Owego, "Frolic at the Fireman's Statue"

 The first place winner will receive $150, second place $75, and third place $50.  

 Although there were only three winners, many images submitted will be used in the new visitors' guide and other publications produced by the tourism office, regardless of where the photo placed in the contest. Visit www.visittioga.com for photos used from past participants.
