Campville Fire Wire
• Pancake Breakfast
Our pancake breakfast and open house was a huge success. The
number of neighbors who joined us far exceeded any past year totals. Our
members would like to thank all of you for your support. Hope to see all
of you again in the spring.
• Boy Scouts
We had the pleasure of showing our house and equipment to Boy
Scout Troop Pack 208 and some of their parents and family members this
month. A few of our members volunteered their time and took a group of
boys on a tour of the trucks, boat and ambulance at Station 1. The boys
also had a treat when one of our members dressed up in full gear. Education
is a good tool for everyone and a benefit for the firemen and squad when
we come on a call in the neighborhood. The boys and their families now
have an idea of what a firemen looks like in full gear and what the vehicles
look like. The evening ended with cider and cookies and goodie bags.
• Community Service
Our service this month was on site availability at Tioga Gardens
Goes Goolish on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our volunteers helped with
traffic control and available medical care as needed. The weather didn't
seem to put a damper on activities and the crowds were enjoying the event.
• Firemen's Home
Our bus trip to the New York State Volunteer Firemen's Home
in Hudson was enjoyable. The day was perfect weatherwise and the scenery
was breathtaking. The members were able to spend the afternoon outside
with us and enjoyed the barbecue and the company. The musuem is something
everyone in the fire service would enjoy seeing.
• Training
October was a busy month for conferences for our squad members.
Nine members of the squad attended the Concepts In Trauma conference at
the Treadway in Owego. Some of you may have seen statmedevac sitting outside
during the conference. Two weeks later Syracuse hosted Vitals 2006 and
two of our squad were able to attend that two day conference. In house
the squad was busy updating on the new CPR skills and requirements.
We thank these members for volunteering their time to attend and update
their medical education. New York state requires our squad to obtain a
number of hours of training every six months.
• Sick Call
Many thanks to all for your prayers and thoughts that go out
to our family members, Bernie Sable and Ron Ford.
• Membership
We had a few people pick up applications at our open house and
Boy Scout night. Please take the opportunity to stop by on a Tuesday evening
and explore the opportunities we have available. We are always looking
for volunteers.
• Election Day
Campville Station 1 will be the election poll for many districts.
Please enter through the rear doors of the station.
All of our members would like to take this opportunity to wish
you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
