Cooking on the Lite Side
by Chef Nick Cavataio

Freezer Cooking Classes
Are you tired of figuring out "What's for dinner?" Then join me for monthly Freezer Cooking Classes and learn how to prepare healthy meals for your family. Eliminate menu planning, shopping, prep-work and cleanup by moving the meal assembly process out of your kitchen and into once a month cooking sessions.

Rotate through recipe stations, scooping freshly cut and prepped raw ingredients into the provided baking pans or gallon-sized zip-top bags. Label your assembled meals, take them home, and freeze. Appropriate cooking instructions are included. The whole process takes approximately two hours and costs $198 for twelve entrees each serving of four to six people (a total of 48-72 servings) or $119 for six entrees each serving four to six people (a total of 24-36 servings), which is less than $3.00 per serving. Each week, three meals can be taken from the freezer and placed in the refrigerator to be enjoyed during the week.

You will be able to provide your families with nutritious, wholesome, home-cooked meals with less stress,  quick and easy cleanup, fewer trips to the grocery store and increased opportunities to enjoy family dinners
Classes are held at the Goodrich Settlement Grange, 421 Glenmary Drive, Owego. The next class is August 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Class You must register at least five days before the class. Call 687-5654 to reserve a cooking session.

Tip of the Month:
Keep products such as salsa, horseradish, applesauce, and taco sauce fresh longer by storing them upside down in the refrigerator
