Campville Fire Wire
FLOOD 2006
Campville was busy assisting other areas with mutual aid calls during the flood. The boat crew went out on an all night rescue in Broome County the first evening.
The next few days our boat went out on numerous rescue missions with our neighbor Apalachin. Our squad was on call in Owego for a few days helping with a water search and rescue team.

Some of our members were on traffic control. Route 17C was one of the few roads open to trucks and local traffic up to Campville Road. Our department printed up local maps to try to help traffic get through to other areas.

Another group of members went to the Apalachin station to help distribute dry ice and water that NYSEG sent.

Our only inconvenience at Station 1 was we had no telephone service. If you were trying to call the station you could not get through for the three days. It was an exhausting week for all.

Campville Fire Department wants to express our thanks to all of our neighbors who baked and brought food to the station. It was appreciated by all, especially since we were open 24 hours each day. We were very fortunate that no casualties resulted from the flood of 2006. That is something we can all be thankful for.

TRAINING
It's been a short month for training with the flood recovery and the holiday. Driver training was a priority this month. You might have seen our staging area at the school. We do want to congratulate our new EMT, Eric Cross. Our squad welcomes you.

NEW MEMBERS
We are still looking for a few people to fill some available positions in the department. Come join us at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evenings at Station 1.

SICK CALL
Our squad captain, Ron Ford, is feeling under the weather. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
