Dinner to Benefit Jeannie Middendorf

A Pasta & Meatball Dinner will be held on Sunday, July 9, to benefit Jeannie Middendorf who is suffering from diabetic retinopathy.

Jeannie was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 4 years old.  She is now only 27 years old!  This disease has always been a struggle for Jeannie.  Recently this disease has progressed rapidly and dramatically.  During her work, as a top cook at the Owego Treadway Inn, she began to notice that her vision was becoming increasingly cloudy.  It became harder and harder for Jeannie to see.

She has had to leave her work, stay at home, and is awaiting treatments and surgery.  She has been diagnosed with retinopathy and requires surgery. Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes and a leading cause of blindness. It occurs when diabetes damages the tiny blood vessels inside the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye.

Her kidneys are also being affected and though there is a lot of hope for Jeannie, there is also a lot of concern for this young woman. Jeannie's fellow employees have decided to take action and help this young family through this difficult time by sponsoring the benefit.

In addition to the dinner, the benefit will include live music (donated by United Sound), a cash bar, a Bake Sale, Silent Auction, and 50/50 raffles.  There will be winners announced every hour. Come for a little or stay the whole time.

Cost is $7.00 donation for adults, $5.00 for children 12 and under.

For more information, please call Vikki Collazo at the Owego Treadway Inn, (607) 687-4500 ext. 179
