Campville Fire Wire

• Training
Lt. Diana Ford, Lt. Rich Perkins, and firefighter Pat Mercer completed the NYS F.A.S.T. training. Congratulations to these dedicated individuals.
Campville sponsored two evenings of FEMA training at Station 1. Apalachin joined us for the NIMS and ICS classes issued by Homeland Security to prepare all emergency personnel for a rapid organized response to a natural disaster incident.  The training was established by President Bush in response to the attacks on 9/11 and fabricated after the hurricane disaster in Louisiana.

• Events
Campville was happy to help our neighbor, Apalachin, during their Field Day events. We were at their station on Friday evenings to cover calls and the squad was on hand at the First Aid tent up at the field all day Saturday. The sun finally came out and families were enjoying the event and the parade. Campville was also happy to help our other neighbor, Owego, during their Strawberry Festival. The hot humid weather created a few heat related illnesses but the crowd persevered and enjoyed the parade, food and activities.

• New Members
You may have noticed our "help wanted" sign at the firehouse. Our doors are always open to anyone who has an interest in volunteering their time to the department. We have openings in the medical staff, firefighting, fire police and drivers. Stop by on Tuesday evenings and fill out an application.

• Local
Recent rain and floods have caused havoc in our communities. Campville's boat and crew responded to mutual aide calls. Our squad was one of seven ambulance crews working together to evacuate the nursing home in the early morning hours. When our area is under a state of emergency our station is staffed around the clock with volunteers. We ask that you listen to your local weather forecasts and local news to keep updated on current situations.
