Waterman Center Events

• Little People/Big People
Tuesdays, 10 - 11 am
This program for 3- and 4-year-olds features short stories,
nature walks and crafts. $2 members, $5 non-members. Registration required.
• Month of the Planets
June 5, Monday, 7:30 pm
June reveals many planets in the evening and nighttime sky. Jupiter,
Saturn, Mars, and Mercury will grace the evening sky. In addition, the
moon will be in a favorable phase for observing. Amateur astronomer, Nick
Guydosh, will set up a telescope at Waterman Center for viewing these objects.
Before observing, Nick will give a short program on how to find objects
in the sky using a star map (provided for all) and some fascinating information
on astronomy. If it is cloudy, there will still be a program with additional
astronomically related material and demos. $3 adults, $2 children, $10
family maximum Reservations required.
• Recycled Treasures Yard Sale
June 10, Saturday, 8 am to 2 pm
Stop by to find that special treasure at our annual sale. All
sales directly support summer camp scholarships. If you have items to donate
for the sale, drop them off soon. (No clothing please.)
• Owego Strawberry Festival
June 17, Saturday, 9 am - 4 pm
Drop by or volunteer for an hour at Waterman's booth.
• Saturday Afternoon Bingo
June 17, Saturday, 1pm
Doors open at Noon. Early Bird Bonanza at 12:45 pm. $3 admission.
Cash prizes. All paper. Food and beverages available.
• Father's Day Breakfast on Hiawatha Island
June 18, Sunday, 9 - 11 am
Farm style breakfast and self-guided walk on the 112-acre island.
Last boat leaves at 11:00 am for the island. Reservations are required
by Friday, June 16. $15 each or $25 per couple for members, $18 each or
$30 per couple for non-members. Ages 5-12 half price; 4 and under free
• Volunteer Naturalist Training
June 21, 9:30 - 10:30 am
Open to any one interested in giving back to the community and
education about nature.
