Campville Fire Wire

• Training
May has been another busy month of training at Campville. On April 29, Lt Randy Hamilton conducted an auto extrication drill at Station 2 on Gaskell Road. There were seven different motor vehicle scenarios set up. The Apalachin Fire Department joined in the training, bringing to a total of 28 members from both departments. It was a very successful drill.

A special note to Les Wagner of Wagner Lumber Company, we want to thank you for donating your time and a loader for placement of the vehicles. Mr. Wagner was also kind enough to donate a concrete jersey barrier to the department. Many thanks from our members.

On May 20, the Campville Fire Department participated in a joint MCI training at the Old Owego Apalachin Middle School. Approximately one dozen fire and squad members joined other Tioga County departments in this drill. Everyone learned how to work with each other and it was a great learning experience for all. Brian Hatch and Rich Perkins went to Dayton, Ohio for advanced auto extrication training. Every year the department sends two of its members for this advanced training.  Last month we left out one of our members who completed the Firefighter I training, Congratulations Pat Mercer. This month Ed Kotski successfully completed the EVOC course.

•  Drill Nights
With the warm weather finally here, our water rescue team can be seen out on the Susquehanna training on the air boat. Our ladder truck has also been actively setting up operations in different locations. You might have seen it up in Crestview Heights. Our squad recently updated their required six month NYS recertification trainings.

• Membership
Anyone interested in joining the department or squad please stop in on Tuesday evenings and we will be happy to show you around. We have openings in all areas: fire, medical, drivers and fire police. The yellow ribbons displayed at our stations are for our troops and for one of our own, Kevin Kotski. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers.
