New Owego Riverbank Festival Receives Grant

       Two annual Owego events have combined their resources to create a new weekend festival, the Owego Riverbank Festival. Occurring on the third weekend in September, the Tioga County River Paddle and the Riverbank Art Show will now operate as one event that celebrates the community's connection to the Susquehanna River in art, music and the environment. This year, the festival dates are Friday September 15, Saturday September 16, and Sunday September 17.

 The Owego Revitalization and Betterment Corporation will sponsor the Owego Riverbank Festival as one of its annual projects and has obtained a New York State Council on the Arts
Decentralization Grant in partnership with The Arts of the Southern Finger Lakes for the amount of $1,538.00 to help underwrite expenses for the 2006 event as the event expands.

 The Festival opens on Friday night with an Art Preview and Wine Reception at Tioga Trails Café. It  includes two evenings of live music, the Saturday morning River Paddle from the Hickories Park to Draper Park, located next to the new Court Street Bridge in downtown Owego, and the Riverbank Art Show on Sunday in Draper Park.
