Head Start in Tioga County Learning to share, be a good friend, take turns, and accept others'
differences are only some of the many skills children learn in preparation
for going to Kindergarten. Head Start's goal is to help prepare a child
for success in our society. Academic skills are an important part of that
process. Also important are the lessons of getting along with others, effective
social interactions, and strong self-esteem. Head Start serves children
3-4 years of age, including children without and with disabilities. Classrooms
are located in Owego, Candor, Newark Valley, and Waverly and serve those
school district areas as well as Tioga Center. Head Start is provided at
no cost to the families of eligible children.
