Campville Fire Wire
The Campville Fire Department had a very exciting month with the
arrival of a brand new ladder truck. Some of you may have seen us training
on it in the church parking lot across the street from Station I. What
a welcome piece of equipment for our community.
Training
As you know, all of our members are volunteers. We have many
dedicated members who give up many hours to not only run calls in the district
but also attend NYS training classes and information seminars.
This month we had five of our probation firefighters complete
the NYS Scene Operations course. Congratulations to our new firefighters,
Pat Brandt, Kevin Clyne, Patricia Hickey, Ed Kotski and Shane Freeman.
We had two of our firefighters move on and complete the NYS Firefighter
I course. Congratulations to Kevin Kotski and Bob Patelunas. We also had
two of our firefighters advance through completion of the NYS Firefighter
II course. Congratulations to Rob Ziemba and John Olsen.
Our volunteer medical squad attended the Emergency Medical/Trauma
Teaching Day sponsored by UHS on Saturday, April 1. Five of our EMTs, our
paramedic, and our squad captain enjoyed the eight-hour program highlighting
new ideas in the medical field.
We want to thank our members for their dedication and time they
give to these training classes and programs.
River Rescue Training
Once a month we have been fortunate to work with our neighboring
department, Vestal, and their water rescue team. It has been a learning
experience for all involved, especially our team who are relatively new
to water rescue.
Welcome New Members
On Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm we hold our weekly drills.
Anyone who is interested in joining is welcome to stop in and fill out
an application. We would be happy to show you around the station, introduce
you to our members and our equipment. We also have an Apprentice Volunteer
Firefighter Program for young adults at least 16 years old. Two new members
joined this month and we are happy to have them. Welcome Marten Peterson
and JP Radzikowski.
Events
Thank you for your community support at our recent pancake breakfast.
It is always a great way to welcome spring and see our neighbors after
the long winter.
News
We ask that you support our troops and send your prayers with
one of our own, Kevin Kotski, who will be leaving on May 7 for his third
tour in Iraq. He will be missed around our house by all. Kevin is one of
our EMTs as well as a firefighter.
Web Site
Rob and Brenda Ziemba are working on our Web site which should
be up and running soon. You will be able to view all our equipment and
keep updated on our department.
