NV Students Raise Money for Katrina Relief

Newark Valley students have been busy raising money for victims of the  Hurricane Katrina that recently struck the Gulf Coast. Among the most successful was one that was organized by Mrs. Joy Jackman's 7th Grade  advisory group.

Mrs. Jackman, the Home and Career Skills instructor, assisted this group in the production of over 1,800 cookies that raised $1,000. Many of the materials were donated by a variety of individuals, and the cookies were baked using school facilities. The chief organizer was Jennifer Celebreti, with Andrea Tirrell and Shelby Wade as production managers. Other members of the group included Brittany Harding, Julian Kaufman, Jenifer Rude, Samantha Alexander, Wayne Anderson and Troy  Schiess.

The Newark Valley High School Interact Club raised $300 by holding a  car wash. Debbie Demers is the advisor.

Kelly Simmon's 3rd Grade class  raised over $600 for the Red Cross with a coin drive.
