DECEMBER 9 - FRIDAY
Master Series Holiday Concert - 8 to 10 pm, Owego Apalachin Middle
School auditorium. Binghamton Community Orchestra performs with Binghamton
Summer Savoyards and Owego Select Choir. Free, but tickets required. Call

DECEMBER 10 - SATURDAY
Bassett Youth Foundation Fundraiser - 2 to 4 pm, 34 1/2 Lake St., Owego.
Homemade Cookie Sale. Tour of new facility.
"Kids' Night Out" at the Pool - 4 to 8 pm, at the Greater Owego Community
Pool (at the Owego Free Academy). For children ages 4-12. Bring a swimsuit
& towel. Food will be provided. Admission:
$7 per child.
Spaghetti with Santa - 5 to 7 pm, at Park Terrace Community United Methodist
Church, 30 Glann Rd., Apalachin. $3 for children 10 and under, $5 for adults.
Photos with Santa Claus will be available. Proceeds benefit the youth
group's mission-trip fund.
Community Christmas Spectacular - 5 pm at Spencer Municipal Building.
Fireworks at 5:15 pm, Santa arrives at 5:30. Outside Tree Lighting
Ceremony & caroling at Nichols Park (Main St) at 7 pm. (see www.s-ve.com)
Harpist Meredith Bocek - 7:30 pm at Waverly Opera House, 324 Broad St.,
Waverly. $5
DECEMBER 11 - SUNDAY
Candor Christmas Home Tour - 1 to 5 pm, self-guided tour of 6
homes. $10 tickets available at The Edge of Thyme, The Loft, Tioga State
Bank (Candor office), Tioga Co Chamber of Commerce. Also at Candor Congregational
Church, Main St. on day of tour.
Christmas Cantata - 7 pm, First United Methodist Church of Newark Valley,
70 South Main St., (Route 38). Sixty voices from 13 area churches perform
"Journey of Promises." Free will offering.
DECEMBER 13 - TUESDAY
Apalachin Fire District Election - 6 to 9 pm at Fire Station #1, 230
Penna Ave., Apalachin.
DECEMBER 14 - WEDNESDAY
The Broome County Naturalists Meeting - 7:15 pm at the Vestal Library.
Presentation of members' slides and refreshments. New members welcome.
DECEMBER 17 - SATURDAY
Children's Christmas Party - 11 am to 1 pm at the Owego Elk's (Front
& Church Sts., Owego). Entertainment, games, visit with Santa &
Mrs. Claus. Each child will receive a gift. Everyone welcome. No charge.
Hosted by Open Door Mission & Owego Elks.
Democratic Committee Christmas Party - 6 pm at Tioga Trails Café,
Lake St., Owego. Dish to pass, Meat provided, Cash bar. Music & Trivia
by DJ-Tim. Call 687-1476.
DECMEBER 18 - SUNDAY
"The Glory of the Lord " - 3 pm and 7 pm. The Community Choir present
a choral celebration at the Nichols United Methodist Church, Main St.,
Nichols. All are welcome.
DECEMBER 24 - SATURDAY
Live Nativity - 5 to 7 pm, Courthouse lawn in Owego. Authentic costumes
and stable animals. Free hot chocolate. Hosted by the Living
Water Baptist Church
DECEMBER 30 - FRIDAY
Winter Dance - 8 pm, at Owego Treadway Inn, Rt 17C, Owego. Sponsored
by Second Class Citizens. Benefits Tioga Co. Boys & Girls Club. Call
Tioga Co Chamber of Commerce at 687-2020 for tickets.
JANUARY 14 - SATURDAY
Steak Dinner/Dance - Dinner 6-8pm, Dance 8pm to midnight. Hosted by
the Candor American Legion. Featuring Steve Southworth and the Rock-a-Billy
Rays. Event includes TV raffle.
JANUARY 15 - SUNDAY
Always on Sunday Concert - 3 to 4 pm at First Presbyterian Union Church,
Temple St. & North Ave., Owego. Ivy Gaibel (mezzo soprano), Pej Reitz
(pianist), and Hakan Tayga-Hromek (cellist) will perform. Free (tickets
