"Safe Bus" Used for Exit Drills
Owego-Apalachin School District students practice exiting a bus
via the emergency exits at the back and top of a school bus.
On October 11, the Owego-Apalachin School District used
their new "Safe Bus" to host safety classes for students. The "Safe Bus,"
which was designed and built by OA mechanic Randy Murray, is used to train
the children on how to properly exit a school bus in the event of a rollover."
The "Safe Bus" is basically a normal school bus that has had
the rear portion cut, rotated 90 degrees, and reattached.
