Stray Haven Cruelty Investigator Certified as Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Technician

Waverly, NY – On May 15, 2005, Patrick Cartwright Jr., Chief of Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA Inc's Humane Law Enforcement Division and Emergency Animal Rescue Team completed a training course to become a certified Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Technician.  

 During the extensive three day and one night training, Cartwright and other students learned animal behavior, incident command, basics of rescue ropes and knots in large animal rescue, containment of large animals, approach and restraint, barn fires, rope systems (Z-Rig, 9:1), trailer uprighting, mud rescue, night search and rescue, helicopters, water rescue and airlift rescue. 

 "Stray Haven has been called to rescue animals in disasters and from cruelty situations in the past. This certification training has helped me to be better prepared to rescue animals safely and effectively in many different scenario's. In turn, preventing injury to both animals and the rescuers." said Cartwright.

 Cartwright is the only known Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Technician in the Southern Tier, however Bradford County in Pennsylvania now has three technician's that graduated from the same class.

 Stray Haven receives no funding for its Humane Law Enforcement Division and Emergency Animal Rescue Team or for any of its other programs.
