Little Meadows Man Featured in 
NY Times War of the Worlds Article

A New York Times article "Mars Attacked Before" features an interview with Paul Moran of Little Meadows. Paul Moran of Little Meadows was recently interviewed for an article called "Mars Attacked Before," which appeared in the June 19, 2005, edition of The New York Times. 

 The hit blockbuster movie War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise has rekindled interest in Grovers Mill - a real town in New Jersey which served as the setting for  Orson Welle's 1938 radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. The fake news bulletins format employed by Welles had an entire nation - and especially the residents in and around Grovers Mill - in a state of panic. They believed evil Martians were really invading the quiet New Jersey countryside.

 Like most people, Moran, who was then only 10-years-old, was listening to the broadcast. Unlike most people, Moran was only a mile and a half from Grovers Mill - the ground zero of the Martian invasion!

 The article, which appears on page 1 of Section 14 of the newspaper and  includes a color photo of Moran,  begins with the sentence "Paul Moran still recalls the night in 1938 when the Martians laid siege to Grovers Mill."

 The article states, Moran is "one of the ever dwindling number of lifelong area residents who experienced the town's most significant historic moment," and it details some of Moran's observations of the night and how people still want to hear his story years later. 

 "As much as Mr. Moran now enjoys talking about this role in the drama, he said it wasn't until the 60th anniversary that "they dug me up." Since then, Mr. Moran has been interviewed on television, by many newspapers, even by a documentary crew from Japan."

 As if that weren't enough, for the New York Times article, Paul Moran's picture is on page 1  - Tom Cruise's picture is tucked away on page 10. Now that's fame!
