Annie's Corner
by Anne O. Stout

Been trying to find out who Murphy is and why his law affects me so much. Simply put, Murphy's Law says if it can go wrong, it will go wrong and that is the story of my life.  I get one vehicle fixed and the other one breaks down. Have a day off to do yard work and it rains despite the predictions of sunshine. Stop by a store to pick up one item only to find they have run out and end up stopping at two more stores just for the one item. Run to get a needed item on sale only to discover they are already sold out, and I am there first thing in the morning. (When they set up these sales do you think they have more then one of the items?)

One son comes to me in need of a dentist due to a toothache; right after one of his brothers comes to me with the same complaint. Call the usual dentist to solve the problem and he has just gone out of town for two weeks vacation. (Not now!)
Planned a family graduation party and one of the items on the menu, scalloped potatoes never got done, even after four hours in the oven. I have made the dish countless times for my own family, but for something special, it flops.

Cooking or baking something is an area where Murphy's Law excels, I mean I can do something just fine for us but add any pressure and it will go wrong. Like the pan of brownies I made for a family get together, a family full of fantastic cooks and my brownies would not even come out of the pan. I could not even get a knife to cut through them, what I did wrong I don't know but you better believe that pan got hidden before too many even saw them. Course my kids still have not let me live it down, but what are children for.

So why is Murphy's Law so present in my life? Why is the question and how often does this pop up in your own life? Guess this law is what caused the other saying, "what doesn't kill us will make us stronger?" So does anyone know why things have to go wrong? Just some food for thought, anyone want some brownies?  (Grin)
