At the Home Textile Museum
Opening Day
May 28, Saturday
The Home Textile Tool Museum will open for the season on Saturday,
May 28. The museum, which is located on SR 1036 in Orwell, PA, will be
open every Saturday, May 28 through August 27, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
rain or shine. Admission is $3.00, and visitors can participate in ongoing
demonstrations under supervision.
May-June Schedule
May 28 - Spinning and Weaving by Cat's Cradle Spinners, Blacksmithing
by Richard Swenson. Woodworking by Chris Fisher.
June 4 - What Weavers Never Do In Public by Pat Hilts
June 11 - Sheep Shearing by Tom Horton. First shearing at 11:00
am, last shearing at 2:00 pm.
June 18 - Natural Dyeing by Esther Welden
June 25 - Youth Day featuring Colonial Story Teller Mrs. McCraken.
Blacksmithing by Richard Swenson.
HTTM Workshops
June 6 - Great Wheel and other Spindles Spinning by Pat Hilts.
9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Class limit is 8. Fee is $50.
June 7 - Hand-sewn Cap by Linda Learn. 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Class
limit is 4. Fee is $50 plus kit ($35).
To register for a workshop, mail your name, address, phone number,
e-mail, workshop selection, and 1/3 fee to the Home Textile Tool Museum,
PO Box 153, Rome PA 18837. Participants should register one month in advance.
