Warren Kemmerling Dies in Los Angeles

Warren Kemmerling died peacefully at home in Los Angeles on January 3, 2005. Warren is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marianne; his children, Lisa, Burbank, California, and his son, Kurt and his wife, Audra, Owego. Warren also leaves two grandchildren, Jessie and Luke, Owego. Warren was born in St. Louis, Missouri, January 4, 1925. He was a 1947 Graduate of St. Louis University. He was a United States Marine serving in Guantanamo Bay. He also served in the Air Force Reserves as a First Lieutenant. As a young man he starred for years on Broadway in several Rogers and Hammerstein productions, most notably the musicals, Oklahoma and Anchors Away. In 1959, he moved to Los Angeles where he began a successful career in acting. Warren served on the Board of Directors of the Screen Actors Guild for 18 years, where he was a fierce advocate for securing benefits for working actors.  His family and friends will surely delight at seeing Warren again in reruns of LA Law, Bonanza, Gun Smoke, How The West Was Won, The A Team, Six Million Dollar Man, The Twilight Zone (The Passersby), Star Trek, Adam 12, Mayberry RFD, Gomer Pyle, The Beverly Hillbillies, Dallas, and Mary Tyler Moore. He also appeared in movies including Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Eat My Dust;  in hundreds of TV commercials, and so much more. Warren was a generous and thoughtful man who enjoyed the company of many dear friends and especially relished his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by many.

Services were held on January 12 in Burbank, California. The Screen Actors Guild paid tribute to Warren Kemmerling during the S.A.G awards show on February 5. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association.
