Michael Henning Deployed to Iraq

Owego native Spc. Michael C. Henning has been deployed for a second tour of duty in Iraq. He is the son of Robert Henning of Apalachin and Marjorie Spaulding of Owego, and is the husband of the former Teresa Reese of Endicott.

Shortly after graduating from Owego Free Academy, Michael enlisted in the Army as an MP. After completing basic and advanced training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, he was stationed at Fort Clayton in the Panama Canal Zone. Upon returning to Owego, he was employed by Tioga County, several local businesses, and the Village of Owego. He remained active in the Army Reserve and both he and his wife were active members of the Owego Fire Department.

In early 2003, Michael re-enlisted in the army and was assigned to the 179th MP Det. At Fort Stewart, Georgia. Shortly after his re-enlistment, he was deployed to Iraq and returned to Fort Stewart in early 2004. In January 2005, he was again deployed to Iraq.

Michael's wife, Teresa, remains at Fort Stewart. She is pursuing a degree in psychology at Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, Georgia.
