Chamber Community Awards Presented

Wayne Clark (right) presents the Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award to Jack and Yvonne Zimmer, owners of Ye Olde Country Florist.

 The Tioga Chamber presented the  Tioga County Chamber Community Awards at the annual dinner on January 26, 2005 in the Starfire Ballroom at the Owego Treadway Inn and Conference Center. 

 The recipient of the Community Service Award is the Owego Rotary Club for the projects they have completed during this year including  beautification projects to the village and to the riverbank, support of the Owego Community Pool, a youth exchange program, construction of canoe and kayak dock and the painting of the railings on North Avenue.

 The Beautification Award was  presented to Field Afar LLC from Candor who purchased a historic downtown building on the corner of Front and Court Street in Owego.  The owners completely refurbished the inside of the building adding a three-story elevator and developing office space for the tenants, BioLife Solutions. 

 The Small Business of the Year Award went to Jack and Yvonne Zimmer, owners of Ye Olde Country Florist, which is well known in the community for its excellent customer service, creative and innovative arrangements and floral work and for their support of the community.

 Company of the Year was awarded to  Lockheed Martin of Owego for their ongoing support of education, and support of community service projects in our communities. The chamber also recognized Lockheed's commitment to attaining total customer satisfaction and the meeting of their commitments.  Lockheed's teamwork approach has allowed them to provide outstanding technology systems integration thus winning significant contracts including military and postal contracts during past year.
