 4-H Farm Safety and Tractor Operator Certification Course Offered

 Youth 14 and older who plan to work on a farm and operate farm machinery are required by law to complete a farm safety program and receive tractor operator certification.

 Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County is offering its annual 4-H Farm Safety and Tractor Operator Certification program beginning with the orientation meeting on Wednesday, February 16, at 7:30 pm in the Tioga County Office Building, rooms 107-108, 56 Main Street in Owego.

 Students must register at the orientation meeting. The registration fee is $15.00 for non-4-H members, and $7.50 for 4-H members. Students must complete all classes before they can receive a certificate.

 The classes will be held at various farm and equipment dealers in Tioga County on the following dates: Wednesdays, February 16 and 23, March 2, 9, 16 and 23, and Saturday, March 19.

 Awards will be presented to the top five students and the top three students will be eligible to represent Tioga County at the New York State 4-H Tractor Operator Contest.
