Primitive technologist Doug Jenks will guide you through the
steps involved to naturally tan a deer hide into flannel soft buckskin
by using organic natural materials. Commonly called brain tanning, this
technique was used for countless generations for making clothing and accessories
by all cultures. This process is done over the course of one weekend at
the Waterman Center. This is a labor-intensive program that will require
some physical effort as you clean, flesh, and soften the hides. The participants
will keep the hide that they tan. Registration required. $50 members, $65
non-members.
