4-H Offers Rifle Safety Classes

The Tioga County 4-H Shooting Sports Program will offer a rifle safety class on Saturday, January 8, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Tioga County Sportsman's Association on Carmichael Road in Owego. The class is limited to ten participants.
The 4-H Shooting Sports program is open to youth 12 to 19 years old.  Members learn safe handling, shooting, cleaning and storage of firearms including .22 rifle, shotgun, archery and black powder; participate in natural resource and environmental workshops; have the opportunity to be part of a competitive team; become involved in living history projects; earn awards; compete at matches; and meet other youth with the same interest.

All firearms classes are taught by certified 4-H Shooting Sports instructors.  Rifles and shotguns are available for use.

The 4-H enrollment fee is $10.00 per youth.  There will be an additional fee for the rifle and shotgun classes to cover the cost of ammunition. Enrollment forms and more information about the 4-H Shooting Sports Program are available in the Tioga County 4-H Office.

4-H is a unique, informal educational program that supplements training received in  home, school, church and other youth-serving agencies.  Open to all youth five to 19 years of  age, 4-H utilizes a real-life work experience where the individual sets his/her own goals for  achievement.
