Assemblyman Finch Announces Funds for Owego & Tioga County

Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I - Springport) announced a $25,000 funding commitment for two Tioga County projects: $10,000 for operation of the Owego Youth Court, and $15,000 to help make portions of the Tioga Industrial Park shovel-ready for business prospects.
The Owego Youth Court is sponsored by the Owego Police Department, the Tioga County Probation Department, and the Village of Owego. It is a voluntary alternative to the criminal justice system for non-violent juvenile offenders age seven to fifteen. The Youth Court provides a consistent approach to preventing, handling, and adjudicating youth offenses.
"The Youth Court program in Owego enjoys wide support from the community," said Assemblyman Finch. "The importance of this program to both juveniles and adults is immeasurable and I am pleased to have had the opportunity to help secure the funding it needs to continue operating."
The Tioga Industrial Park in the Town of Owego currently has a two-acre site with all specifications met aside from a $26,000 sewer extension. Coupled with $11,000 provided by the Tioga County Industrial Development Agency, the $15,000 made available by Assemblyman Finch will fund the necessary construction and help bring more jobs to Tioga County.
"Infrastructure is always a key element to attracting jobs," said Assemblyman Finch. "In Tioga County, infrastructure improvements already helped bring Harvard Custom Manufacturing and Norwesco to the Industrial Park. The goal of this project is to bring more good-paying jobs to the area."
