Hinchey, Murtha Tour US101

 U.S. Representatives Maurice Hinchey (NY-22) and Jack Murtha (PA-12) visited Lockheed Martin in Owego on September 16 to tour Team US101's Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program. Murtha is the ranking minority member of the House Appropriations Committee's defense subcommittee.
 Team US101 - which is led by Lockheed Martin Systems Integration Owego - is competing to build a state-of-the-art fleet of next-generation Presidential helicopters better known by the call sign "Marine One."

 "I was very impressed to see how the US101's spacious and comfortable cabin would be configured for the President's use," said Congressman Murtha after a tour inside the demonstrator at Lockheed Martin's Owego facility. "I think America's Commander-in-Chief would be satisfied flying in this safe, secure, sophisticated, and American-made military helicopter flown by some of the world's best aviators - United States Marines."

 Hinchey and Murtha visited Lockheed Martin's facility as part of an official, Navy-sponsored fact-finding tour that was initiated by Rep. Hinchey.
 Lockheed Martin is competing with Sikorsky to win the contract to build the Presidential helicopters. The U.S. Navy's award announcement currently is expected to occur in December.
