Motorcycle Rally Set for Sept. 11
Original Manufactured Motorcycles On Display

As a prelude to the upcoming Motorcycle Rally scheduled for September 11 at the Courthouse Square in Owego, members from the community will be honoring the only two known motorcycles manufactured in Owego, the Monarch Motorcycle and the Jailhouse Chopper.

The Monarch Motorcycle, which was manufactured in Owego in 1913, is currently on display at the Tioga County Historical Society Museum at 110 Front Street.

The Jailhouse Chopper, which was completed in July 2004, resides in the lower level of the Jailhouse Restaurant in the Jailhouse Chop Shop.
To honor these by-products of Owego, and the history they represent and are making, the Chamber of Commerce will unite the two together at the Historical Society located on Front Street in Owego. Jailhouse Choppers, which is a subsidiary of the Jailhouse Restaurant, is a sponsor to the September 11 Rally that is scheduled to benefit the Men's Residence at the Open Door Mission in Owego.

The Ride for the Homeless attracts more than 100 riders each year and is being planned this year as an entire community effort. Working with members from the police department and business community, the courtyard located by the Court Street Bridge will set the stage for the September 11 ride and music event.
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by an 85-mile ride at 12:00 Noon. The chopper manufactured by Jailhouse Choppers will be making its first run at the head of the pack. Upon the return from the ride, a live performance by the Second Class Citizens and the Mojo Boogie Band will take place at the Courthouse Square Gazebo. There will also be a variety of vendors on-hand as well as raffles and prizes. This event is open to the entire community.

Sponsors for this year's event include the Jailhouse Restaurant and Jailhouse Choppers, Matthews Truck City USA, Community Bank, and M&T Bank.
