The "Surmick Building" on Route 434 in Apalachin was demolished on Friday July 2.  It took only three hours for the building and an adjacent house on William Street to be leveled. Over the life of the building it has housed many business including: a Kaiser-Frazer Car Dealership, Turner's Repair Shop, Surmick Body Shop, BEAM Electronics, and Quality Transmission. Later this month, the former Dutch's Bar" on Main Street in Apalachin will be demolished.
