Roberts Running for County Legislature

 Republican Michael A. Roberts announced his candidacy for District 3 of Tioga County Legislature. Roberts, 47, said he would aim to increase the county tax base. 

 "The tax issue is the most important reason I am running. I feel there has to be a better way to solve the current fiscal issues facing Tioga County and to not place all the burden upon the taxpayers by blaming everything on state mandates. 

 "My experience as a successful business owner will allow me to apply a "business sense" to county government. The vision for Economic Development needs to focus on expanding our tax base.

 "Taxpayers have come to the point where they cannot afford any more increases. We need a change in our representation. I want to be part of that change."

 Roberts, owner of Apalachin Auto & Truck Repair, lives on McFadden Road in Apalachin with his wife, Barbara, and their three children, Felicia, Jason, and Emily.
