Quadruplets Born to Little Meadows Couple
The couple learned of the four babies during a routine ultrasound. They responded with stunned silence. The prospect of quadruplets was overwhelming. One doctor urged them to "reduce" the number of babies, and insisted that the outcome of carrying four would be a disaster. They refused. Jodi began seeing Dr. Kassis, a perinatal doctor at Wilson Hospital. He discussed the risks and advised bed rest starting December 25, 2003. At 20 weeks, Jodi was admitted to Wilson Hospital. Three weeks later she was transferred to Crouse, in Syracuse, where she remained bed ridden for 6 1/2 weeks. Crouse Hospital provides high-risk obstetrical care for the Northern Tier Region. The babies were delivered by Caesarian Section at 28 weeks and remain hospitalized. Justin, Jewel and Jessalyn are now at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City. Jadyn is at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse until she is more stable. Life is busy as the parents travel daily to the hospitals to be with the babies, and still spend time with Jasper, who is not permitted in the neo-natal intensive care unit. He has only seen the babies on videotape. He is very excited about his new brother and sisters and everyone eagerly looks forward to them coming home. Jerry, who owns and operates a logging and firewood business, is adding two bedrooms, a bath, and a playroom in the basement to make more room for the much larger family. Jodi, a hair stylist, is the owner and operator of Jodi's Ultimate Creations Hair Salon in Apalachin. "We can only anticipate what life will be like with four babies and a two year old," said Jodi. "It will be both overwhelming and fulfilling. Our family and friends, and our church family from the South Apalachin Baptist Church have been very supportive and encouraging." "We have been so blessed by the love, prayers and caring of everyone," said Jerry. "Prayers have been heard and answered." A community baby shower is being held on Saturday, July 10, from
