Shelby Klemmt Crowned 
Little Miss Apalachin 2004

 Shelby Klemmt, daughter of Julie and Marc Klemmt, was crowned Little Miss Apalachin 2004 at the Apalachin Firemen's Field Days on June 12. Shelby is the granddaughter of Lucia and Ed Nezelek of Binghamton, and Marie and Bill Lewis of Dallas, Texas. She attends St. Patrick's School in Owego.
 
The runner-up for this year's Little Miss Apalachin was Libby Birmingham, daughter of Becky and Butch Birmingham. Libby is the granddaughter of Mary Smallcomb of Vestal, Terry Birmingham of Kirkwood, and Charlene Cherry of Apalachin. She attends Apalachin Elementary School.

 The Little Miss Apalachin Contest, which is held every year in conjunction with the Apalachin Firemen's Field Days, is open to eight- and nine-years-old girls who live within the Apalachin Fire District. The contestants are judged on communication skills, appearance, and personality.

 This year's judges were Joy Ivancie, Little Miss Apalachin 1993; Cheryl Ivancie, former runner-up Little Miss Apalachin; and Tony Quaranta, Apalachin Fire Chief.

 Jan Warner was overseer of the event. Master of Ceremonies was Jay Manarky of Owego.
